Sculpture coming along nicely

They tend to fall over - I need to work out how to make a really stable base.

Little Known Work By Me #3

This is made from scene board sprayed with duco touch up paint. It's from 1998, I think, and was called "Offcuts". I made it for a show at Linden called "System', which Damiano Bertoli curated. In the exhibition it was spot lit so it was all about the moody shadows, but I prefer this deadpan presentation.

I've been agonising over the content of this post that's why it's taken so long

Yes that's right, I've been paralysed by this blog's success. Now I'm second guessing all you readers, "What do they want? What would be the best thing to write about..?

I've decided to go with these early wall drawings - after "Variable Dimensions", and "Hedge" which was the show with the boxes at Grey Area, so late 1996 or maybe early 1997 ish I started working just with the tape on the wall, and sometimes on the floor, not combining it with paintings or canvases or boxes or other objects. I had a show in the front space at Gertrude St in about September 1997.

Every day I would go into my studio at Port Phillip Arcade, do a few drawings, take a photo, when the wall got full I'd  take the tape down and do some more.

The bottom two are of my show at Gertrude Street - or to be more exact, an approximation of my show at Gertrude Street. Just after I de-installed, my bag, containing  the only slides of the show, was stolen. God what a disaster. Charlotte and Rose kindly let me redo it in the January holidays, but it wasn't quite the same. I took the photos myself and they are really bad. Lucky this never made it into Art + Text.

Sculpture is harder than I thought

Day one and already I want to call in the fabricators.

How am I going to make these?

Any suggestions?
